100 in 10, Day 3.

Happy Saturday! The CHA trade show has been a lot of fun, and very tiring, and a lot of work, but a lot of fun! I LOVE SCRAPBOOK PRODUCTS! There, I said it. I have a bunch of photos I’ve taken, which I’ll get in and uploaded after the show ends tomorrow. It’s so cool to see what all of the manufacturers are coming up with that we can use to tell our stories. :D

And I’ve read the amazing ideas you have provided in the comments to add to our list. We’re nearing 100 already, and it’s only day 3! Keep adding to the list, I’d love for us to have a big pile to play with at the end of the 10 days!

Here are today’s 10:

21. Do a layout featuring your top 10. Or better yet, make a mini-album.

22. Think about turning points. What small or large things in your life have been turning points, events or moments that you can point to and then say, “This thing changed my life.” It can be big things - getting married, having a child, getting a new job, or it can be small things. What turning points have made you who you are?

23. On the plane the other day, I read an ad (always reading ads, can you see the trend here?) that was about a huge sale they’re having in Hawaii, with “vintage surf equipment and other Hawaiiana”. I thought, “Hawaiiana. What a cool word. Sort of the vintage or quaint artifacts of a certain theme (think Americana). So I was thinking, what things in my life could be considered Jessicana?  What could someone look at in your life that is so reflective of you, but in a quaint, artifact way? (I think well loved teddy bears and blankies fit here, for example…)

24.  Choose one word. Let’s say it’s Love or Family or Togetherness or Friendship, or Home, and so forth. Write that word down. Now without stopping, write down 50 more words that are the FIRST things you think of. Write them all, no editing. See what comes out.

25. Add a crown to someone on your layout.

26. Rough up some edges on your layout. In paper, bust out the sandpaper, paint, ink. In digi, find some grunge Photoshop brushes (my favorite of all time is the Digital Distressing Kit from ScrapArtist - it even comes with a tutorial!), load them up in your eraser or with your brush tool in white or brown or black and swipe away (on a new layer!) at the edges of your items.

27. Include one transparent or semi-transparent thing on your next layout. Maybe that’s something printed on a transparency. Maybe that’s a semi-transparent journaling block or semi-transparent title over a photo.

28. Create a layout where you talk to yourself as a little kid. Or a bigger kid. Like so:

Click for Larger
29. Tell a story about a great compliment you were given. Perhaps your reactions to it, as well. Like so:

30. Include a circle shape on your next layout. Can be huge or small, can be patterned paper or photo or slightly off the page. Can be a circular photo collage, even. :)

Have a wonderful night!

Try color blockng. Fill a whole or part of a scrapbook page with blocks of your favourite colors and photos.

Add a big title so it is written sideways and placed on the right or left edge of the paper.

Make a layout about your child's favourite toys right now.

Scrap a scent that brings back a favorite memory.

Certain songs can take you to a very specific moment in time. Scrap one happy and one not so.

Love a photo of your child in a certain outfit? Scrap that photo and use homemade paper where you've:
1. Scanned part of the outfit with a scanner.
2. Made a digital design from the scan.
3. Printed the digital design for your paper.

There are some awesome prints out there!

This seemed fitting with your last layout about being a mom!

Scrap something that drives you to do what you thought you couldn't. Make it about the story...not the stuff.

Here's mine http://www.scrapbookbling.com/sbbphotopost/showphoto.php/photo/1992/limit/last14

I have just found your site and absolutely love your Friday Freebie tuts. Is there a way to download all of them so that I can save them without having to hunt for them and copy and paste? Thanks so much for taking the time to write these for those of us who are interested in digi scrapping.

Okay both your layouts spoke to me today - you sure you aren't me, in an alternate universe? LOL - an idea for today, hmmm....
to elaborate on your circle idea, what about putting a spirograph in a layout? Again I am totally stealing another blogger's idea, but I have started playing around with them - very cool (especially if you find a plugin/action to do it for you!) Then use as a sticker, brush, overlay, element (metal, chipboard), etc.

I thought you were supposed to use pictures of YOURSELF in the LO when speaking to yourself as a kid...those must be pictures of Elliot! ;) so weird!!

I love the Moxie Layout!

Scrap a picture of what you are reading. Why are you reading this item?

Do a layout about a love hate relationship. Exercise, good foods, chocolate lips love it hips hate it. could be funny could be very serious.

Create a layout of your favorite room in your house, and be sure to take the photos from your viewpoint. What makes this your favorite place? What memories do you have here? Try to use a color scheme that best reflects your mood when you are in that room.

Jessica, I love this topic and all of the wonderful ideas that have been come up with! What a fantastic tool to fight "scrapper's block". My idea for today is :

Take a photo and select 4 colors from it to use as a limited palette, then build a scrapbook layout with your photo and the 4 colors. Check out my sample LO with this idea here:

LOVE your growing list!
Here is my No. 25 (add a crown to someone in a layout)
http://gauchogirl.blogspot.com/2007/07/happy-sunday.html

My tip: Challenge yourself to use whatever is still left out on your workspace to create another something (so you don't have to put anything away.) (You can pull out fresh cardstock if you need a base.)

Jess, I love your layouts today (well, I love them all, but today's are precious). I am so amused seeing Elliott as your carbon copy and Rowen as Jared's. Such lovable kids! (And so lucky to have you and Jared as parents!)

Here are 2 more ideas (for yesterday and today):

3. Scrap about a letter or a note that changed your life. (If you still have it, you can scan it and add it to your layout. If you don't have it anymore, you can use photos of the changes it caused).

4,Scrap a layout using this quote: "These things take time." (so many avenues this quote could take one!)

Am so looking forward to the final release of all these wonderful ideas! Just at this point, they're enough to jumpstart anyone suffering from scrapper's block! Thank you for this great 100 in 10 idea, and the many wonderful other ideas it has generated!

Day 3 idea: Use photoshop to erase your title. Easy to do (though JS probably knows an easier way) by typing over photo or pp and then using the eraser tool while the pp layer is chosen. Then delete the typed layer. Negative space title. I love it on a busy montage of photos (see the new minibon catalog for an example).

Jessica - I love your 'moxie' layout. That is so perfect. And what a compliment to receive as a mother. Your layout was inspiring to me today. Thanks!
