It's Tuesday: What have you written down?

This is as much for me as for you. Caught up in the weekend of events (you know, the little nothings of carpet cleaning and everyday life), and no pictures taken since Saturday. No stories written.

So here’s one.

We bought these random little lights that to stick to the underside of cabinets (or anywhere), that are battery powered and turn on by pressing them. They look like hockey pucks, and it turns out the light is way too white for the use I was thinking, so now 4 of them are floating around the house as kid-toys.

It also turns out that they make perfect nightlights.

Rowen has a little shelf cart she keeps by her bed, where she stores her toys and books of the moment. She came out late last night to use the bathroom, and when Jared brought her back to bed, he noticed that the little round light was lit on the top shelf of the cart, and all her cars were circled around it, facing inward.

In her sleepy voice, she informed him that they were having a campfire.

So there is one. Another little detail of this precious mama-life that won’t be forgotten now.

So. What have you written down? And just remember before you think to yourself, “I didn’t do anything interesting or worth writing down.” (you know who you are): How much do you wish that your grandmother or great-grandmother had taken a few minutes on a random Tuesday and jotted a few things? Sometimes I get reminded of this, and get writing again.

MY story: (thanks entirely to Jessica S.)

I took your Scrapbook Alchemy class at CKU Orlando. Due to my ridiculous old computer, the class was a bit of a mess. (the CPU fan went wonky, and I couldn't place it on a table top without it overheating and shutting itself down. Imagine learning photoshop, mousing with one hand and hovering your computer over thin air with the other. *sigh*)
In your hang gliding analogy, I felt like I'd bumped my way off the cliff face first.

BUT

I got a new computer this weekend, and the FIRST thing I did with it was load PSE and find my notes from CKU.

I DEVOURED it! I moved right on to my copy of "Computer Tricks" and plowed my way through that, too.

I am FLYING now! Seriously, no one in my house can understand why I am SO thrilled with this. It just makes me remember how FUN it is to learn something completely new. And I have you to thank.

So thank you again!

This morning I awoke to a bed full of some mysterious sand-like substance. Turns out that my 9-month-old had gotten ahold of one of my disposable nursing pads that had slipped out and she decided to shred it until I woke up! Score a point for the opponents of co-sleeping....

I was just thinking that my little guy was growing up & maturing in so many ways: he hands books to his little sister that he knows she'll like; he cleans up messes; and the big one - he and I now share each other's socks. !! And I don't have tiny feet!! :)

I just bought the same lights, intending to use them for the same purpose and had almost the same result from my kids. :)

Great message... I'm going to try to jot myself random notes too. :)

Thanks for that lovely story, Jess! Thanks to the NWR class, I have been documenting some random stories during the past few weeks. There's one comment in your entry that I can not relate to. As, regrettably, my DH and I don't have children, I sometimes wonder who will enjoy all these stories whne I'm no longer here.... Will nieces and nephews still take time to look through albums in years to come? Anyway, in the mean time I document all this stuff for me, just for the sheer fun of it, and to look back to when I'm old, and my memory needs a little help remembering my life. And of course, the immediate feeling of accomplishment when I've mastered yet another technique in PSE!
Hope you have a wonderful December; I've got quite a few Daily December layouts all filled with lovely papers, just waiting for more everyday stories.... Love, Monique
