Seeing What She Sees

Without further ado, I will present the photographic debut of my daughter Rowen, age 3. These are some of her shots from their outing to Red Hat on Sunday.

It is first off SO COOL to get her perspective. She sits in a carseat in the back of the car, and THIS is what she sees when she looks out. Man is that cool.

I love that she took pictures of the trees as she saw them out the window. And the flowers that are in front of the Red Hat offices. I can’t even explain why, but this entire set of images makes me well up. It’s living proof that I’m raising a human being, with thoughts and motivations and likes of her own, aiming her lens at the world and snapping away.

She was so excited to get a camera.  She said, “so I can take pictures just like YOU, mama.”

*sigh*

But you can also see that the images are.. less than stellar in quality from this camera. I can imagine that they went heavy on the “kid tough” and light on the “photosensitive equipment and/or breakable lenses” when designing this particular model. But SO GREAT for a 3-year-old who knows what to do, but not necessarily the dire consequences of dropping a “real live” camera. And that has happened, several times. It lands on its rubberized side, no harm done. At least, the quality of photos it produces hasn’t deteriorated noticeably. ;)

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Photoshop Friday!

Oh I love them! It is very cool and after I read your entry about the camera, I was so excited about the possiblities of pages full of images taken from my son's perspective (he is 4) that I got him one today from Wal-mart, he's been asking for a camera for awhile now! Thanks for the info, I didn't even know these cameras existed until you! Please tell Rowen I think her pictures are awsome!

I got one of these (boy version) for my son last Christmas. He LOVES it! After finding a photo shoot of his army men posed on a blanket landscape on our family camera, we decided it was time to get him his own. He doesn't even care if we do anything with the photos - just as long as he can take them and hear the sound of the shutter. I think you get a great return on investment with this "toy."

What a wonderful invention! It may be time to get my oldest his own camera (I keep turning around and he has MINE!) His 4th birthday is next week - a really GREAT idea!

My son Ian has the same camera (in blue of course) and I think it's amazing to see how he sees things. Now I don't get asked to borrow my camera. It's great to see his interest in photography already.

This is awesome! Check out her view of the flags again. She totally showed you "her world."

So cute! I'm so glad we have the technology we do today, because I know my kids are going to have it so darn good. I'm sure they'll be blogging by age 10. :)

Speaking of photos, I finally posted the photo we took together at CKU Anaheim! :) http://trudem.blogspot.com/2007/06/did-you-notice-new-banner-yet.html

From the time Rowen was little she has loved flags. Everytime we went to the library we had to stop and look at the BIG flag. She loved to carry small flags on rides in the stroller. Her pictures show that she still noticing flags! WOW I love this sweet girlie-oh!
