Connecticut, Classes, Hints, and Excitement!

You guys are the best! LOL!

I have really enjoyed your guesses! HEHE!

And I am surprised how close some of you are. It is really cool to see what you’re hoping to see, too. That is another post, because I am sincerely interested in what you want to learn. How we can improve the menu of classes we offer, and fulfill our mission to help bring technology into the life-storytelling and memory keeping process.

As for me, I arrived at JFK yesterday and watched closely as we drove an hour into a totally other state! I grew up in Idaho, you’ll remember, and driving an hour in any direction only ended you up in the middle of someone’s farm or in the middle of the mountains. We DID live about 2 1/2 hours from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, but seriously? To be able to take a day trip to like 7 other states is mind-boggling to me. And to live in one state and work in another? Crazy.

I taught a class at Momento in Milford, CT last night, and it was great. It’s SO MUCH FUN to introduce scrapbookers to the power of including some computer tricks into their scrapping process. It was awesome to meet Anne, who is a “Beta Girl” from way back in my very first online class from last year - thanks Anne! :D It’s great to be there with beginners, too - to see the light go on as things start to come together, to make them promise that they will always do their own black-and-white photo conversion from now on, and never let Wal-mart do it for them again, and most importantly, to see the confidence level go up. It is awesome. I love how empowring the experience of learning Photoshop can be.

Today I am teaching an Introduction to Photoshop class at the Creative Photography Retreat here in Stamford, and I’m looking forward to more of the same goodness (on a MUCH larger scale - this class might be HUGE, but it’ll be ok), meeting some scrapbookers, and starting the par-tay that is a CK event. :D I’ll let you know how it goes… Then some photo editing action on Friday and Saturday (EIGHT 90-minute classes over two days! Whew!), and then we’re off to NYC, I can’t wait!

So.

I am REALLY excited for the big announcement tomorrow. I think it’ll be huge!

Ready for another hint?

Let’s see.. we already know:

  • This class is for ALL skill levels - even non-scrappers!
  • But (and this will be veddy veddy interesting) it’s perfect even if you’re a seasoned digital scrapbooker
  • This class is a perfect opportunity, if you haven’t taken a class at JessicaSprague.com, to come check the place out
  • This class includes printable goodness
And now let’s add these keywords (which will totally make sense tomorrow)
  • capture
  • catalog
  • past & present
  • everyone welcome
You can check here, or the web site home page, and I’ll be sending out a little email reminder to my newsletter list as well. WOHOO! :D

p.s. Keep guessing in the post from yesterday - let’s increase the prizes to 7, just to keep it interesting! And just so you know, there were some very close guesses!

Have an awesome day!

I'm still thinking it's something to decorate your house with. Maybe a collage to put on the wall or on a quilt or something.

Not reading all the other guesses - I am voting for something that has elements of the "then and now" type pages. Maybe a scrapbook of the family with then and now photos and advice. Or (and?) A chronicle of important things and people in your world, past and present. With lots of journaling about why they matter. We'll find out tomorrow!

How about a class on preserving family history. Perhaps collecting pictures and information from past generations and putting together a book while tying it in to our current families. Maybe the picture is a picture of family members from different generations coming together? Can't wait to see what it really is!

What comes to mind is a photo organizing class or workshop. Something to get pictures organized, accessible and ready to tell stories! (Definitely applicable to everyone!)

I'm laughing about the state hopping. As a European that is a natural thing for me. I am actually as close to the capitol of another country as I am to the nearest town in my own country. Now THAT has to be considered crazy?

My guess: Hands with a camera.

Just a simple guess. :D

Oh, and by the way, I got some new green shoes too. ;) You can see them here:

I really like them, and they are about as comfortable as they come!

Trying again....scanning old photos and putting with digital ones of today. Organizing photos with.....?????

How about page overlays for something totally off the wall? Making your own? I don't think the 10th is ever gonna get here!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterfarabee
Ooooh ... now i'm hoping it's photo organization! Maybe with some photo editing thrown in ... and getting ready to get the stories told!!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commentertammycirceo
Huh...I was thinking it was christmasy but now the new hints are making me rethink.

My guess is something to do with blogging. I.e. blog templates, printing blog pages, etc.

I think photo editing and cataloging your photos, which frankly is a great idea. Whatever it is, I'm excited!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterlucysmom
Sounds like a photography class to me - something I could surely use!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPam
My guess was that the picture is someone's (Jessica's, perhaps) forearms, and that the class is related to organizing your pictures, digi supplies, and fonts.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen
I think it's something hybrid related. I'm stumped after that, since there are already classes available for organization and it is so hard to have photos editing class since every photo is so different.

Maybe something to do with printing or color profiles? No, that's not for every level...that's complicated stuff, from my own perspective. Hmm.

Ok, here's a wild guess. . . . how about something that has to do with our family histories (past and present), can use our digital skills, BUT is coordinated with someplace else, like Shutterfly, to upload to a book project (printable goodness, all skill levels)!

Something that is a new direction (previous hint), something adaptable to all our skill levels, and has the "printable goodness." Except I still don't know how the knees/fingers could fit in with this. . . . . hmmmm.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAngela2932
maybe a mini album of our lifes, past to present, capturing normal days?
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAnke
I think we are going to take photos of either moments or days in the life of...and use it to decorate a photo storage file holder/folder that we make to keep our photos(past and present) and journaling in. That would be something crafter could do in their own comfort zone-wether they are hybrid, digi, scrappers, writers or photographers.

Jess, you've totally stumped me. I am beginning to think you and Liv enjoy teasing us ;0)The new clues are making me second guess myself. I even tried pieceing together the graphic hint from your site and the graphic hint from Liv's site in Photoshop. It looks like hands that are holding up words. My initial thought (and secret hope) was photo editing, but I think I am going to stick with my last night's guess of a hybrid class. Your new clues could fit that. I will add to my guess that it will be more than scrapping hybrid, but hybrid projects.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen
Hmmmm ... something to do with organizing but not just photos. Maybe about organizing all those little pieces of paper/life that seem to overwhelm us.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLynnAnn
I wish I could bottle the feeling that I had driving home from your class last night. I don't even know if I could adaquately express how much I was affected by your warmth, your generous spirit, and your passion for what is important. You have touched so many lives. The journey that you've started us on is remarkable, and getting the chance to travel a leg of it with you in person was a privilege. Thank you for everything.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAnne J-Z
I'm thinking either something to do with family history or organizing photos. Hmmmm.... I'm very interested to hear what it is!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHeatherM.
I don't have a guess but I am hoping you will tell us tomorrow morning in class at CPR so I don't have to pay ANOTHER 9.95 for internet access..LOL although I am sure it is worth 9.95! Can't wait to see you tomorrow at CPR! woohooo

I think that it is hands holding a camera that would be taking a family picture from above to create a Holiday newsletter that you would send out to family and friends. One that would catalog the years events, capure the family in a photo, journal about the past and present and welcoming everyone to your lives. It would be something that everyone can do and still learn a little digi goodness. Just a little guess. and Jess, I love the shoes but I'm such a tomboy that I wouldn't have anything that would go with them but ENJOY.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commentercroppinkatiejo
oops, I forgot to add my email wouldn't want to miss out on anything.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commentercroppinkatiejo
ummmmmmm
I vote for photo organizing/cataloguing....with a layout or 2 or digi project.......
can't wait to see what the "real" class is
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLinda
I think it has something to do with genealogy or putting together your family tree?
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChristine C.
I still say an journaling class but with some heritage stuff thrown in and some organizational tips on top of it all. So it would be a great intro class for anyone who is new to the site, but great for all of us who would take anything you offered. I am so excited my mind keeps going back to what it could be! I am extra excited because Nov 10 is my B'day! A fabulous new class what a great way to celebrate! Can't wait until tomorrow.
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmie F
I'm guessing it's an organizational class, maybe how to use ac/dc (no idea how to spell that) to be able to keep everything at your fingertips. Waiting to see
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commentercarolyn
I have to guess that those are two legs together and the class is digital workflow and organizing your old photos along with your new photos and memorabilia. Either way I am excited to start another class!!
October 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle S
I'm thinking a daily calendar of some sorts. Maybe a picture of someone taken every day. Plus I love the shoes.
October 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSheri
Hmmmm... I'm thinking ... of a lot of carrot cakes, more fluevog deliciousness, and lots of happiness! ROFL! Just passing by to leave some silliness and give you a great big hug, my friend! :D
