Trailing Clouds of Glory

I received the following entry from Daily Om in my inbox today (love these! no matter what your spiritual or religious beliefs are, the articles are always thoughtful and inspiring), and was so moved by it, I wanted to post some of it here.

I firmly believe that there is a reason we are all placed in this earth situation together - there is some design in the opportunity to interact with, communicate with, influence, and be influenced by other people. There have been people in my life who definitely came along “just in time”, to set things rolling or to teach me something I really needed, or to rescue me when I was hurt or in pain or doubting.

I think being open to the possibility of being “placed in the way” of someone else helps us to become that human angel as well.

Here is some of the article (emphasis added):

Beings of Light
Human Angels

During each of our journeys, there are those inevitable moments when someone comes into our life at precisely the right time and says or does precisely the right thing. Their words or actions may help us perceive ourselves more clearly, remind us that everything will turn out for the best, help us cope, or see us through difficult situations. These people are human angels – individuals designated by the universe to be of service to those in need at specific points in time. Some human angels make a commitment before their births to make a positive contribution to the world at a particular moment. Others were chosen by the universe. All human angels, however, come into our lives when we least expect them and when we can most benefit from their presence.

… . But most of them are regular people, going about their daily lives until called upon to be in the right place at the right time to bring peace, joy, help, or heal someone when they most need it. You may have met a human angel in the form of a teacher who gave you a piece of advice that touched your soul and influenced your path. The person that momentarily stopped you to say hello on the street, delaying you long enough to avoid an oncoming car or a collision, is also a human angel. They may offer nothing more than a kind word or a smile, but they will offer it when you can draw the most strength and support from their simple action.

… Human angels give of their inner light to all who need it, coming into our lives and often changing us forever. Their task has its challenges, but it is they that have the power to teach, bring us joy, and comfort us in times of despair.

Has anyone in your life been a human angel? Have you ever been a human angel for someone else?

My husband has been a human angel for me, we crossed paths briefly during a tough time in my life, I put off hanging out with him till later, but he insisted that we do something, and here we are almost three years later, happy newlyweds and we just bought our first house. Had it not been for him pushing me forward then, and constantly pushing me forward and supporting me throughout our lives together, we may not have ended up where we are today.

I LOVE that! Especially the last paragraph. I think I was a human angel tonight. Just by being a listening friend and trying to follow the promptings I receive.

lol, I just finished reading this "Daily OM" in my inbox, too, and I said to myself "wow, I'll have to blog about this." It really was a terrific little article, wasn't it. Reading it was a great way to start the morning.

Beautiful post Jessica and I couldn't agree more with everything. I believe I have had many angels but the one that stands out the most was my friend Tina. She brought my heart to my hand so I could reach over to her. We brought some strength to each other during a hard time in our adult life, transitional almost, and we shared enough to know that we were going to be ok - even if we weren't meant to be friends forever. She came at the right time and I will always treasure our time.

yes, I definitely have encountered regular people going about their daily life who were angels to me at specific times in my life. The most recent angel I met was the young man who shared my dad's hospital room during his last stay in the hospital before my father passed away. This young man befriended my 91 year old father in his last days and nights. He would call me on the phone to relay messages from my father when he could no longer make the calls himself. His vigilance allowed me to go home for a few hours sleep because I knew he was there with my dad. It was his call in the night urging me to come to the hospital quickly in the morning that allowed me to spend several hours of quality time with my father before he slipped into a coma. This young man alerted me to the change in my dad's condition even before the hospital staff let me know my dad was dying. I will never forget him. I believe he is an angel among us.

The word for angel in the Bible means "messenger". Someone who brings a message at the appointed time. I think we could all function in this way a lot more often if we perceived this concept!

I am totally rolling on the floor laughing because I just read your post about WOW and while the love of my life doesn't play it-he is totally there with Call of Duty. He got COD-World at War last Wednesday. Installed it on his PC. The game worked-a few issues with the server he plays on, but the game worked. So-he decides he needs a new processor. In the process of installing the processor-busts a connector. And needs a new power supply. So now there is no game playing. There is only depression. And maybe some tears, although I haven't actually seen this yet. We are going to the NIN (Nine inch nails for those who don't know) concert on Thursday-hope that will make everything better! Have a great week! I LOVE the Prompts and the story telling in SIH. Thank you so much for the class!!

Yes. My friend is a human angel. She is so in tune with people and God that she will pray for you at the exact time you need it most - even when she hasn't talked to you in weeks. She just has you on her heart. It is so much more than that though...

Jessica, you have been a human angel as well to me - helping me in your Stories at Hand class. Helping me to connect to my past, to so much.

I have tens of thousands of pictures (at least digitally) and not so many stories recorded.

But the stories... They are worth so much.

I called my great aunt one night (after your class started - was it day 4?) and I've only seen and talked to her once before. But I wanted to know more about my maternal grandmother - one I'm named after and look just like, but who died the year before I was born...

Ahhhh, the stories. The stories... I listened and I laughed and I smiled and I wrote and wrote and I shared and shared and I laughed some more. It was priceless - the highlight of my month.

Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for sharing your class with us.
