Thanks.

Thank you. For all your emails and comments and wonderful thoughts and encouragement. Going to the Dr. on Thursday. I appreciate all your stories and advice and well wishes, and you can’t know how very much it means to me. Truly.

A couple of random side notes:

Need to make a PDF?

I had my butt saved by a web site today. I needed to make pdfs, and after a quick Google search, I linked up to this web site that lets you upload docs and it emails the completed pdf file to you. Rockin. It’s called Doc 2 PDF Online. Have I mentioned how much I love the internet?

Want to visit a web site dedicated to female photographers (that’s you, right?)

Stumbled on a very cool and brand-new web site, “committed to honoring and celebrating the beauty that women behind cameras can capture”. Click on over to Shutter Sisters and check it out. It’s got challenges, contests, a Flickr group, and of course, plenty of great shots.

Want a really cool printable weekly planner?

I’ve used this planner for 2 weeks now and it is awesome. He explains his philosophy, and then at the VERY bottom of the post is a link to a pdf file you can print. Make sure you print it onto pretty, smooth cardstock. That’s part of the experience. :) I love that:

  • It’s an entire week at a glance
  • It has sections both for time planning AND for priorities/tasks
  • There are little bubbles to fill in when tasks are longer than a “get it done and check it off” but you need the satisfaction of looking at progress made
  • It incorporates the “Roles and Goals” philosophy from the Stephen Covey 7 Habits book.
  • It fits onto a single page
  • I didn’t have to make it
And there you have it. A little cupful of useful goodness from across the internets. :)

Hi Jessica! I've never posted before, but I have read your blog faithfully for the past year. Thanks for all your PSE tips and hints - they've made my learning digital scrapbooking so much easier! I wanted to suggest another free software for making PDFs that I use all the time - it's called PrimoPDF - primopdf.com. I use it all the time for both work and personal stuff and love it. Good luck with your doctor's visit - I've been where you are at and the meds are a huge help and thankfully don't always need to be something you have to take forever!

Jessica, another really neat website that you can use to make PDF's, among doing numerous other things, is Google Docs. http://docs.google.com - you can import/export, create or edit documents and/or spreadsheets. And it's absolutely free. If you have an existing document, you can import it into Google Docs, then export as a PDF and save it to your computer. You can also collaborate, so you can send it to another person to work on it. There are tabs that track the changes that each person has made as well.

Check it out, it's really, really cool! I use it for anything that I might need "on the go" (like recipes) or anything that I collaborate with my bf on. This was especially helpful in writing down memories of our trip to NZ last year - we could both write them into the same place! You can also access all of them from your PDA/Smartphone/Cellphone. Google has also redesigned their "gadgets" for the iPhone recently.

I know I sound like an ad for Google, no I don't work for them LOL!

Sorry for the geeky comment... from one geek to another! ;)

Want another recommendation for creating pdfs? I like Cute PDF from http://www.cutepdf.com . After you install it, it sets up a virtual printer. You just hit Print in whatever application you're in and choose the Cute PDF printer and it makes the pdf.

Can't wait to browse the Shutter Sisters site - looks like fun!

if you want something free to make PDF's try Primo PDF...I love love love it!!!! It creates basically another "print" function so you select print and then choose PrimoPDF instead of your printer and it "prints" to a pdf file on your hard drive that it creates.....fabulousness and easy!!!!!

Love what you find out there on the web ... Shutter Sisters looks amazing and I just got PDF file yesterday from someone at church and wondered how I might convert documents into PDF files - how did you know I needed this info?! Best of luck to you on Thursday! P.S. Just got my e-mail from CK saying my pre-ordered copy of you book should ship in 7-10 days!!! I just can't stand it!

Love, love the b.day entry! It is hard to be perfect and o.k. to just be ____ ______ ____! Don't be so hard on yourself. That is a hard lesson to activate.

I, too take anti anxiety meds because I am so type A that I have panic attacks.

Lots of love and hugs!!

Wow - thanks for all the info in this post! Just in the last 2 days I've needed a .pdf converter so the is wonderfully timely for me.

Don't stress too much about the dr. It really will be okay! I'm sending warm, peaceful thoughts your way.

another free pdf converter http://www.pdf995.com/download.html You basically install it as an alternative printer driver and choose print when you want to convert, choose the pdf995 choice and it converts it right there on your screen. way cool. very handy. thanks for your tips and life goodness!

I just read your post from Friday as well...good luck at the doctor's office this week. Remember, if one particular doctor or medication or counseling is not working for you, try, try again. These things CAN be effectively treated!! (I'm coming from the medical side of it all...I'm a PA and have seen many people do SO much better after treatment of one sort or another). *hugs*

I started using Google Docs for keeping track of what digital scrapbooking supplies I've bought, early last December. After DSD and then Thanksgiving Sales, and then some in December, I decided I needed a good way to track this! I copy and paste what I've ordered from the order history (after I download my order, I go in to order history and view the most recent purchase) into a Google Document. I keep a Doc for each place of purchase, ie, Designer Digitals, LDD, JenWilson, etc. Then, I copy the name of whatever item I bought, over to a Google Spreadsheet (easily remembering the date of purchase and the price as I do so, and enter those right away after pasting the item name). I also copy and paste the store name from entries above (usually faster than typing), as well as the WHY of the purchase, ie, what sale (like Designer Digitals' two 25¢ items, some sites have Wednesday specials, etc.) If the price I paid is a sale price, it goes in a column for that. If it's full price, it's the column right next to the sale price column. There's very few entries in that one, as there's always a discount somewhere, and I try to wait for the bigger ones.

I have mucho anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, panic disorder) and heck I'm even fearful about the anxiety meds, given the potential for abuse of some, but I use them as prescribed, and the ones that are for more situational use, very judiciously, and it always surprises me how the effect is helpful long after the med has worn off (twas explained to me that short-circuiting the ramping up of anxiety, can lead to lesser levels of anxiety because you stopped a cascade effect kind of thing.)

Sorry, not giving medical advice, lol!

Anyway, great links and stuff!

I'm not sure what you use for doc. .. I use MS Word 2007... and it has a great new feature.. a nice little .pdf plugin. I just type my document.. and click save as.. and choose .pdf.. voila.

Of course.. I don't think the plug in works for older versions of ms word.
