Has this song always existed?

It was Thursday pizza night here. Our backyard is almost finished, but we’ve been out there playing and eating kind of nonstop all week. The kids took advantage of the sprinkler going on the new sod (strategically placed near the bottom of the slide) to get soaking wet. They loved it! I love the laughs and squeals of delight, and then we just strip them down just inside the back door and run them up, cold and teeth-chattering, to the tub.

I walked in as Jared was helping Rowen get dressed, and he was teaching her, “I see London, I see France, I see Rowen’s underpants!” She thought this was the FUNNIEST thing she had ever heard, and I knew in my heart that we would live to regret this decision. She was awake for the next approximately two hours, and every five seconds (through pizza on the patio, through stories, songs, lights-out, and through her closed door we heard, “I see England (close, right?) I see France, I see DADDY’S UNDERPANTS! RAAHAHAHAA!” And there was an ongoing singsong undertone from Elliott (turning slow circles on the patio), “underpants, underpants, underpants, underpants…”

I was eating pizza and looked at Jared (you know, THAT look?), and he was like, “What? She’d have learned it eventually from other kids.”

The funny thing about this, is that he said that like HE was one of the other kids. True, that.

My husband likes to blast the "Sunglasses At Night" song every so often, and the whole family busts a move to it. But the problem with this is that, like Ele, we're muttering the song all day long. :)

Sweet story!!!

Heh-heh...that's totally something my hubby would do. Let me just say that "potty humor" has found its way to our dinner table...GREAT.

Too funny and yes, Dad's are usually the instigators of all the silliness! Hang on to these moments. They are the precious ones! ~Ann

Jessica,

Did you really want Rowen to grow up and have to admit to her friends that she'd never heard that song before? Just think how embarrassed she'd be! :)

That's really funny. My dh made the mistake of singing it to our daughter a few years back & we listened to it but not nearly as much as it sounds like it was at your house. I don't think our son (almost 4) learned it yet Thankfully! haha he would be singing it to everyone. And right now he's in the phase where he asks strangers what their names are. Can you imagine him finding out a person's name & then singing them that song. :blush Hope its not stuck in your head anymore, b/c its now stuck in mine. lol

LOL! Isn't it great how they latch onto that stuff? My 2 year old heard "stinkyhead" somewhere, and it's now his favorite game with DH...bye bye stinkyhead. I finally convinced DH it wasn't in our best interest and it's now bye bye cleanhead, lol.
