May Photos, and a little enablin'

Nothing like a 3-day trip and a broken memory card to set you back a bit from a photo-a-day goal, eh? :\ I’m getting a new CF card today that will hopefully do its work (it will take photos, but no card reader can read it, so I have to transfer the photos through the camera, and the previews are all black, so I can’t tell what photo it is until I open it. Bleh.)

But I ‘ve been doing my best. Here’s mine so far:

 May3-blog.jpg

Just home from San Francisco. I brought the kids a trolley lolly. After bathtime they sat in the laundry basket and pretended to ride a trolley while they licked their lollipops. Clang clang!

May4-blog.jpg

Elliott, hanging out on the porch in his new shirt. Sometimes the only story is the catch I get in my throat when I look at a photo. :)

May5-blog.jpg

Rowen gathered up leaves to “pay” Jared, pretending it was money. Apparently it does grow on trees now. :D

Supplies:

There are some incredible pics in the Photo-a-Day gallery at JessicaSprague.com. Have you been keeping up with your Pic-a-day for May? Link me up if you’ve posted on your blog. :)

Also, a little enabling. :)

Songbird Avenue has a GORGEOUS kit for May, a huge collaborative effort from all of their previous guest designers. All the proceeds from the sale of the Take Flight kit go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. I’ve already purchased mine! It’s delish.

It’s ScrapArtist’s 3rd birthday celebration! Their sale starts tomorrow, but you can head over and pick up a beautiful collaborative kit for $3.33 right now. Okay! Go! :D

Jessica--so sorry to hear about your camera trials. That can really cripple a girl, huh? I've written about my personal challenge with Photo-A-Day on my blog as well as a 'musing' on "documenting heritage and legacy". (Both written May 3rd and 4th). I've also created a Photo-A-Day album on my blog.

Thanks so much for encouraging this challenge!

Ugh, I hate it when electronics misbehave! But at least you're able to do something to rescue those precious photos. :) That shirt totally reminds me of something Cole Zielske would wear! :D

Enough of the enabling!!! LOL. I just purchased my first DSLR...and guess what I got?! The Nikon D40....
It's all your fault. JK!! Well, that, and the fact that I have little willpower (not to mention a tax refund and the fact that I've wanted to "move up" to a DSLR for a while...)

Jessica--I LOVE your photos from the Photo a Day challenge..glad you had a good trip--and I'm sure the kiddos were happy to see their mommy. how did you get the Katie P. frame onto the photo with the shadow directly onto your blog? did you crop it a certain way? I have blogger..so not sure I could do it.

Hi Jess,

I too have to give you kudos for helping me obtain a wonderful camera: the Nikon D300. When my husband, whose love of photography has him pouring over camera reviews, heard me talking about Ken Rockwell and saw me using Neat Image, he felt I was "ready" to use such a camera... and we purchased one this weekend! Thank you so much for the enabling.

There is such a carefree, joyous air about your children in your photos. Lucky them to have such devoted parents who are crazy about them. :)

Goodness, your kiddos are getting so big! They are beautiful.

The kit is great, but it is coming up at $8 for me, not $3.33. $8 is still a great deal!!

The kids look too cute enjoying their lollies in the trolley laundry basket.

I haven't done a pic a day, at least I don't think but I'll double check tomorrow to find out for sure. I have been picking up my camera more frequently lately.

Thanks for the tip on the great deal. I'm ok with you enabling for things like that. ;) I'm downloading as I type. Woohoo

Hi, I think your photographs and Tutorials are really great and just want to say thank you for posting them. I've seen the word "enabling" a few times now but have no idea what it means! Can you please tell me?
May 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJeannette
Hehe. Enabling just means "hey, look at this cool thing I found and/or bought! Maybe you want to go look and/or buy one too!" LOL.

Hi Jessica! Loved your post about being focused. Got to try that! But, even more, I loved your story about Rowen. Reading that has warmed my heart and left me with a smile - what a perfect way to start the day. Thanks for sharing that little piece of perfection!
