Spied.

Bookmark and Share

One of the things I love about CKU is the chance to connect with other scrapbookers, and also to be reminded of why I do this crazy thing in the first place. I wandered about with my camera today, spying on my life, trying to capture a few of those details that might otherwise escape.

spied-1.jpg

This is what a tea party looks like if you are a 4-year-old girl who happens to love trains and Lightnin’ McQueen. Note the smaller sized teacup to accommodate the mini-train. :) She invited ALL the friends. Ah. This photo makes my heart smile.

spied-2.jpg

Elliott running through the kitchen with his new Rocket. The faster you run, the louder and faster he plays music. Oh yes. And we got that for him ourselves. Have only regretted it… a few times…

spied-2a.jpg

Elliott making a bubble beard in the tub. He only knows how to do this by sticking his entire face in the bubbles (mouth open) and then making a super loud POOF to blow the bubbles away from his mouth. And he looks just like a little garden gnome, minus the sweet red hat.

spied-3.jpg

Two kids, spied through the bathroom door, watching the water go down the drain and make a whirlpool. There is much kicking and screaming and general melting down if the whirlpool cannot be witnessed each and every night. And it has sound effects. But it’s part of the ritual, and that makes it special.

Just a few glimpses as I slip back into Ordinary Life. :)

So...I heard about your digital photoshop classes from a blog while blog surfing (how addicting is that!) and have been checking it out for a couple of weeks! I wish I had found it just 1 month earlier! I missed your first class and now they get to go on and I have to wait for your up and running class! I did ask to be notified. Your new site is lovely. Good job to all involved! I love reading your blog and looking at all the great pictures! I have 10 children myself and they are the most wonderful thing in my life! I'm going to be taking your digital photography class so I can preserve "better" memories! I'm so excited to be doing this and I hope your up and running class is going to start again soon! Julia

10 children!!!! Shock!!! EEK! Okay just had to say that... lol
I am glad you are back in the swing of things and seeing your gorgeous pics (I always say to myself, that could be my house, I need to take some more photos of things like that!).

Like the previous person who commented, your pictures don't come through on Google Reader. Dunno why.

Have to say, I love reading about life in the Sprague household! These pictures you shared inspire me to see what I can spy. I didn't get to participate in your Photo a Day challenge last month, but I can see how it would bebeneficial to try it myself.

Adorable pictures. I've got a 6 (almost 7 in a few weeks) year old who adore Lightnin' McQueen and Thomas! Love the tea party!

Have a great day...keep cool, if you can.

I always kick myself because I know I don't take enough pictures like this. However, my house doesn't quite live up to yours unfortunately and I guess I'm just self-conscious (read: jealous) :-) about that.

Your pics don't come through for me either...I use bloglines.

like the previous posters-they don't come thru on bloglines for me either.

Rowen reminds me of me when I was little and now of my daughter-nothing like having a dolly go for a ride on a big tonka truck or tractor-she's a bit younger then Rowen but I see my daughter in her! Looks like I will be searching for some girl underwear with trains and cars too-will keep you posted if I find any! May have to search Etsy too-if you ever find any let me know!! :-)

Hope *someday* I can be 1/2 the photographer you are!

I love the pictures. You know what I'm finding fun lately? My kids have always liked to borrow my little digital camera (oh no, they are not allowed to touch the Nikon D70 unless mommy is helping them hold it!) - and now that the girls are getting a bit older (5 & 6) some of the pictures actually aren't blurry. And they are taking pictures of things around the house that they love. So I've started making a little folder on my computer and after one of them asks to play with the camera I pick out a few of the best ones (you know, sometimes there are 24 shots of the same My Little Pony). I think it'll be fun (or heartbreaking) in a few years and remember the toys and tv shows (yes, they occasionally take pictures of the tv) that made up our day to day lives right now.

I take lots of pictures, but handing the camera over to them gets just a little different perspective. (((hugs)))

Hey Jessica! I just signed up for NWR and can't wait. I'm such a hack and it's going to be great to learn how the tools really work (heh-heh). Just the intro was great...there's a tool bin? LOL. Seriously, this is going to be a blast!

OMGoodness, those pics are the cutest! You don't kow how much you will treasure them in the years to come but I do! I just laughed out loud at the (gnome) one! I know you can't scrap them all but gotta print and put somewhere with all your cute comments! Keep it up smart mommy. Thanks for sharing with us

Those kids can make any mom's heart melt... I bet they turn you into goo in no time flat. :) I love that Rowen isn't the "conventional" princess that has tea parties with pink, frilly things. Love the trains.

I think my fav photos are ordinary life ones. They are so 'real' and just a reminder of how taking the time to see the little, ordinary things can make life even better and more special.

And *this* is what totally makes me smile... looove the extraordinary special-ness of the very ordinary, and i totally love that you've captured it for all time. You are an absolutely awesome mom, my friend. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. ;)

Love the pictures...as always! You do a great job of capturing life and your love for your family shows through.

Glad you're getting back into the swing after CKU. I had exactly one day to do all the laundry & leave for a mini-vacation with the husband & kids. Will be great to be back by Monday, just in time for NWR ;)...I am so *pumped*!!!

Sent you some "real" mail, via CK, hope it doesn't take forever to reach you. Have a great week!!!

How funny - both of our uber-geek hubby's love the Weather Channel. Congrats on Elliott and the big-boy bed. I'm hoping we can get our little one (Ware - 3 in Sept) in his bed sometime soon....and then there's the potty-training...sigh....absolutely zero, zip, nada interest.

Thanks for sharing your life with us! See you in DID soon, Meg
