8:05 p.m.

I told Ele he could have a couple of minutes before bedtime to play with his trains. I came in to read him a story and put him to bed, and he was hiding behind his blinds. It went like this:

“Mama, say knock knock.”

Me: “Knock knock”

(he pulls open his blinds)

 

Ele: “Nobody is home!”

And here is where I get stumped, so I need some prompting from behind the blinds.

Ele:  “Mama, you say, ‘It’s the gwabbledy goblin!”

Me: (still confused) “Ok. It’s the grabbledy goblin!”

(A roar of laughter from behind the blinds).

Jared comes in. I say, “Who is the grabbledy goblin?”

Jared (laughing): “OHHHH, the Grabbin’ Goblin? Here, this is how it goes.”

And he proceeds to act out the entire scenario again perfectly with Elliott, who is loving it.

Apparently they have both seen this particular episode of the Backyardigans way more times than I have. But at least I had the presence of mind to catch a pic of the goblin behind the blinds.

Oh dude. We are very familiar with the grabbin goblin at our house. We watched that for about two weeks straight after it came out. My favorite though? The flighty fairy. Good stuff.

I need to spend more time with adults apparently. LOL!

Oh my goodness, that is so funny & too cute! I've had to play along with things like that & then find out later from my dh what the heck it was all about. I was reading the post with a big smile on my face as I was imagining this taking place at your house. Thanks for making me smile. My niece and nephew are huge Backyardigans fans, too... I must admit, I kinda think they're fun, too! Our favorite episodes? Pirate Treasure and Surf's Up! Watching my nephew sing the Scurvy Pirate song while he plays on his playset in the backyard just cracks me up. And when he watches Surf's Up and pretends to surf while singing "Ho Daddy Ho"... well, nothing's cuter than that! :)

it's the backyardigan's big "movie"...not just the show. come on MOM!!! haha actually we just saw the backyardigans live - yes, you heard me right, live on stage. the same show, i'm sorry, movie, that your child was reinacting. i like the "movie" better - no one notices as much if you fall asleep.
