Every man .. and menu board.. is a daddy

We drove down to Sonic Burger for lunch today. A mini road-trip. Used the GPS and everything. :P

We sat in the little picnic tables in between the parking lots, and Elliott wandered over while I was ordering at the menu board.

The guy was repeating my order back to me and I could hear Elliott muttering, and thought he might be changing his order from Corn Dog to Grilled Cheese, so I leaned over and whispered, “What did you say, Ele?” And he said, “No, I’m talking to the daddy!”

(And remembering this helps me smile even as I listen to Elliott get up out of his bed for the forty-seventh time with some lame excuse, seeing that it is 8:45 now, and I have been putting him to bed for a solid hour. Ah yes. Sweet and salty. Someday he will be used to the big kid bed and just fall asleep. Right?)

Or, if he doesn't get used to the big boy bed, maybe Jared will get bedtime duty ;) (as I sit writing listening to Anna jabber with her Daddy at 9:30- she doesn't sound like she's going to be out for a while)

Yep, sweet and salty.

Hang in there Jessica! We just moved Ware (our almost 3 yo) to the big boy bed Sun. He does get up some as well - Zane & Harper did it too. I took them to the pol this afternoon and got them good and tired - there were very few complaints about bed time and Ware hasn't made a peep! Now....if potty training will just go as well....god luck! Take care, Meg

Good luck with the big boy bed. I seem to recall that what worked for us with our 5 kids was to tell them they could "read" picture books to themselves, as long as they stayed in bed. They almost always fell asleep quickly and painlessly.

Someday and before you know it he will stay in his big boy bed. Next thing you know...he'll be graduating high school! Enjoy the time in between!

I'm sharing in your misery. My almost 3 yr old is still awake right now and it's 10:22pm. She has been in the big girl bed since she was 18mos old because she jumped out of her crib all the time. We've tried everything - but for three weeks she's just not staying in bed.

Just when you think you can't take it anymore they suddenly come through and it clicks, then bedtime is a breeze. After that it's on to the next challenge. :)
