What I was GOING to say... but in fewer words

Since it appears that I may not get more than bullet points tonight, let me sum up:

  • Went to the museum on Saturday for the Rest of Elliott’s birthday (celebrated in stages through the week)
  • Between us, I think Jared and I and his parents got Ele the last two remaining planet books on earth that he doesn’t already own.
  • Jared decorated an amazing planet cake with ping-pong ball planets. Genius. And delish.
  • Saturday evening I planted a bunch of new plants in our yard, turning into the most amateur of gardeners, and it’s fun! Ele can even remember the names of his favorite: larkspur.
  • Except that I think I found some poison ivy somewhere - I have a welty, blistery rash on my forearm that itches like a sweet motha. Also a lesser one under my chin (perhaps wiping sweat away?) that isn’t as big and blistery and doesn’t itch quite as bad, but is still QUITE enough itchy for tonight.
  • Cortisone cream seems to be helping some. Til I went and washed the cakey stuff off to reapply. YOW.
  • We are getting ready to announce the plans for the big 2nd birthday celebration over at JessicaSprague.com. LOTS of cool stuff going on. Mark your calendar for June 22-28, and plan to stop by each day to pick up special goodies and see the news! This is gonna be awesome!

Now if the evil Tuesday night gremlins inside my blog will allow me to post pics, I will do so shortly. If you don’t hear from me, assume I’ve been the Tuesday night snack, and they’re coming for you!

Jess,
Larkspur is vaguely toxic (depends on lots of factors). Just make sure they smell it and DON'T eat it. It is lovely though.

I found cool, wet cloths helped when I got poison ivy. Helps keep it pliable. Torture though and takes FOREVER to heal.

Sorry about the gremlins.

Oh Jess, I have a long terrible history with Poison Ivy. You might try an Aveeno Oatmeal Bath, five years ago I had a terrible case of poison ivy in the middle of my palm and it itched like crazy! I mixed up a small batch of the Aveeno oatmeal bath in an empty plastic jug and just soaked my hand in there to relieve the itch. Good luck with yours.....I ended up at the doctor and on a prescription steroid before mine went away!

Thanks for all you do, you are truly inspiring and awesome!
Hugs!

We just finished a birthday week here. Jon took the week of the 1st off and we had a lovely staycation to celebrate my 65th. Weekly birthday celebrations are a family tradition with us. Congrates to Ele...
If you find you get poison ivy bad each year you can buy poison ivy extract pills at the pharmacy. You take them as instructed to help clear up current cases but you can also take them at the start of the season to ward off the evil. My Dad is highly allergic, as is my brother, (My mom and I are not..) and they swear by them. Good luck!

You could always start a garden in my backyard... I promise you there's no poison ivy... ;)

I hope you feel better already, Jes. Otherwise I'll have to come over and drag you to the doc to get that itch banished forevah. :)

For future reference, you need something like Benadryl- an antihistimine. Also, my dad says when he was a kid , they used to rub jewelweed on their poison ivy rash, and voila no rash. Possibly worth trying. And I totally have to get Grandma to make my kids some planets!

Can't wait for June 22!!! Love reading your blog - - your kiddos are so sweet!

I have poison ivy too! I hate it!! I was told to take Benadryl at night and also use benadryl cream on the rash.
Also use Fels Naptha Soap (it is a laundry soap bar) on the rash- - it helps to dry out the rash.

Good Luck!
